FAQ's

Radio frequency Kiln Dried Timber is wood that has been dried using radio frequency (RF) energy to remove moisture. This method involves applying electromagnetic waves to the timber, which heats the moisture inside the wood and causes it to evaporate. The process can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.

Kiln dried timber is less prone to shrinkage and warping, making it more stable than air-dried timber. It also has a uniform moisture content, which can improve the quality of finished products.

While kiln dried timber is stable and less likely to warp, it may require treatment or sealing to protect it from moisture and decay when used outdoors.

Kiln dried timber is more expensive than air-dried timber due to the additional processing involved. However, when it is important to minimize wood movement after install, the stability benefits often justify the cost. Air dried wood also dries at an approximate rate of 1″of thickness per year, whereas RF kiln dried wood will dry in as quickly as 2 weeks.

No, we only kiln dry lumber and timber from our own operations. We focus on maintaining high quality by controlling the entire process, which allows us to ensure the best stability and performance of our products.
